Heja Game Lodge before start of tour

I arrived late on Wednesday afternoon at beautiful warm  Windhoek Airport, and was met by my transport. We drove to the game lodge on tarred, then dirt road. The lodge has many chalets scattered around, and a dining area inside and out for hundreds. I think there were 4 for dinner, plus a group of 15 US students here studying international aid. Initially, there was no power but it eventually came on.

As it became dark the temperature dropped. I put on all my clothes. My chalet is basic, but there is warm water for the shower and enough bedding.
After breakfast I went for a walk on a gravel road, looking for game. Did see many spores of different sizes and kinds. Have seen 2 kiwiets, but no mammals. This is a hunting lodge so maybe the animals know something.
After a 5 km walk, I sat/lay in the sun reading. A few people have come to the lodge for lunch, but I cannot think why such a huge capital outlay and so few people, and today is a public holiday. Maybe Namibia is still recovering from Covid.

Later today the Nomad group should arrive, ready for an early departure in the morning.

The sun and the De Ruyter book is making this rest a good preparation for what is to come.
